If you are seeking County mental health or substance use services, you must have health coverage, or be willing to apply for coverage.
For details on how to apply, review the application process.
Each individuals' situation is unique. That's why we offer free help to apply and get healthcare coverage. We can help to see which programs you may qualify for, explain how the program works, what it may cost, and then help you apply. And we are here to assist you through the entire application process.
Note: Legal immigration status is not required to access free or low cost health insurance in San Mateo County. If you have private insurance that does not cover mental health or substance use services for the care required for your treatment, you may still qualify for public health coverage. Individuals who do not qualify for coverage may still be eligible for services through other resources.
